When I first got this product it worked as advertised. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles but with electronics of this kind one gets what one pays for.

roughly four months after purchase the item just stopped working. After looking on several websites and attempting to contact their customer service several times I found no real assistance.

From what I was able to gather this is a known issue with the product and there is no known way to fix it as yet.

I moved on to a different style although from the same company.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - 2ND ONE - BOTH FROZE ON MAIN SCREEN - DON'T BUY
I really liked the first one I bought, but after 6mo it died. It would only work with a USB plugged into my car radio. Would not work w/ headphones. Wouldn't even play. Blue screen wouldn't even come on. I thought it was a fluke....bought another...same prob after 4mo.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Long lifetime
I have to say, this product doesn't appear half as glamorous as the Ipod or another high end MP3 gadget, but it works.

Ok, granted, having to buy a gazillion AAA batteries over the years makes me wonder if the batteries themselves end up costing more than the thing itself, but after 3.5 years and its still working, I'm darn impressed by it.

If all you want is a steady music player that won't break on you even if you drop it about 100 times, this is the one.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great entry-level player
Simple, relatively elegant given its entry level status, and easy to use, the Sansa makes a great gift. It may lack the intuitive ergonomics of the iPod, but it also lacks the PRICE. For that reason this unit is easy to recommend for casual users, those new to mp3 players, or young people (i.e., kids).

The 2GB of storage is too small for a real music aficionado - that works out to only 30 something albums or so, far too little for heavy use - but for most listeners it should suit them fine. Just enough room to keep all their favorites, but not much else. The integrated FM radio will never see any use, but as a writer I found the built-in mic pretty handy to record notes and thoughts on the fly.

Best of all, it's light and sturdy. You can give this to your 10-year-old son or 80-year-old grandmother and not worry about them trashing a fragile and expensive piece of hardware.

After a couple of years in use, mine is still chugging along fine. No complaints. A solid recommendation. GREAT stocking stuffer or way to get your older relative into digital music.
