It seems like there won't be a huge difference between models, so it mainly boils down to price and recommendations. This "CDN Proaccurate Stainless Digital Thermometer" and the Thermapen were the names that came up the most often. Lots of people championed the cause of both models, but the CDN Proaccurate came with recommendations from both Cook's Illustrated and The America's ... Read More Rating:  - Really instant reading temperatureGreat item for price, simple and good working, really quickly pick up a temperature, easy to operate. Not giving 5 stars just because of very inconvenient storage case, it absolutely could not be hanged, because of heavy head. Rating:  - worked fine two times onlyI was really happy with this thermometer. I used it once to make yogurt and once to cook a roast. In neither case did it get dropped, immersed in water or left in the oven. In no way did I mishandle it. And yet, third time was not the charm. It just didn't work anymore. The display still worked but no numbers would appear, not after removing and replacing the battery, nor after trying to recalibrate. Rating: - quick readGood quality with a quick readout. I have been pleased with this product so far, and the quality seems good enough that is should last for at least a couple of years. Rating: - Works WellThis thermometer reads fast and is accurate.
