We happen to know a particular hound named Sophie who’s endured more than her share of cracked nails and bleeding nail beds, the result of the standard guillotine-type nail trimmers. Though she was a bit wary of the Dremel, she sniffed at it and decided it was harmless. Then we set it on the floor and turned it on. Sophie seemed concerned for a minute, but then lost interest. We let her get used to the sound of the Dremel for a few minutes, then got down to business. We expected her to cringe and pull away when we took paw in hand, for what usually follows is not pleasant for her. She submitted reluctantly at first to the Dremel, probably expecting the worst, but once we distracted her with a piece of rawhide, she forgot about the nail hubbub and let us carry on. The whole thing was quick and painless, which made a change for Sophie, and was actually kind of soothing for the humans, which definitely made a change for us. We followed the advice in the manual and alternated between two paws at a time, not keeping the abrasive on any nail for more than a couple of seconds, and we made sure each nail was cool before grinding it a second time. If we had a criticism, it would be to wish only that Dremel would include the ½-inch drum for larger dogs like Sophie as well as the smaller one.  Rating:  - Worked great for meI have 3 dogs and usually take them to the groomers to get their nails trimmed. I dont know how they cut my Mastiffs nails, he wont let me go anywhere near his feet. I got this and that night did my small dogs nails. All was well, then I tried on my mastiff and he didnt like it. I got in his face (not a good idea unless you know your dog) and told him NO ( he was growling at me), then I made him lay down and magic happened. He gave in and I trimmed his names. Read More Rating: - 5 Paws from Baby Doodles!!Before I found this Dremel, Baby Doodles (my Pug) would try to bite me every time I would clip her nails - and I was even careful enough not to cut the quick!! Now...WOW...she is like a whole new Pug. A definite 5 paws up. I use short sessions filing, then we play as a reward inbetween. God Bless my new favorite tool!! It doesn't bother me that it might take a little longer because it is easier on the both of us. Rating: - The Dremel Pet Nail Tool is soooo GreatThis tool is fantastic. Before using this tool trimming my pups (4 yrs old) nails was a nightmare. He hated his nails trimmed and I would always leave him with one or two bleeding nails. Not any more. Now my Husky lays for me (from day 1) and actually relaxes. I only use the low speed because that is all that is needed and it does a wonderful job, within minutes his nails are perfectly groomed and no more scratchy nails when he jumps up on me to greet me. And the price is great. Thanks Dremel! Rating:  - High speed doesn't work. Low speed best for small dogs.When the Dremel arrived, I realized that the high speed doesn't work. Nothing happens. At all. Most annoying. Since my dogs' nails were really long, I used the low speed. This takes forever but works well. The dogs don't like it but I'm sure they'll get use to it. I used a similar product on dog nails when I worked at a vet clinic. Here's a tip: If you dog doesn't get use the Dremel and constantly protests when it's pulled out, try giving them peanut butter. Dogs love it, it's inexpensive, ... Read More Rating:  - Pet Rotary Tool- Not good for hard nailsThe Dremel Pet Rotary Tool is not a good purchase for pets with dark, hard nails. I have a small dog so this size seemed ideal however, the tool does not have enough power to get through the nail and stops on contact with the nail. I do not recommend it.
