Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band had a huge impact on the music world, signaling the beginning of a new era of sophistication and maturity in rock. The musical experimentation was dynamic and fresh, several tracks were edited to create seamless transitions, and even the visual design was more elaborate than anything previously attempted. Producer George Martin and The Beatles searched for new sounds and studio effects. They added crowd sounds and animal cries from sound-effects recordings, sped up Paul McCartney's vocals in "When I'm Sixty-Four" (to make him sound younger), and sustained a single piano chord for 40 seconds to end "A Day In The Life." The orchestrations, scored by Martin, were hailed by critics as bridging the gap between pop and classical music, and many people who had never bought a rock record bought Sgt. Pepper's. EMI. 2005.  Rating:  - The greatest of the greats! Frankly, the album has obviously secured itself the "classic" title. Honestly, how could it not? While many feel it to be over-rated and pretentious, the impact it had on pop-culture, and the impact it continues to have, is simply massive. It is a fair assumption that there will never be another band like the Beatles, and by extension another album like Sgt. Pepper. While this is rather sad, it's also for the best. However, I did not, nor do I now, feel this was the Beatle's best work. It is perhaps the most unique album because of the time and the circumstances in which it was recorded. Very "arty" and polished. Influenced countless bands in the seventies who perhaps even outdid the Beatles at their own game. It is a decent album though, with some strong moments. Read More Rating: - Hurry Up Crapitol RecordsIt's taking forever for Capital Records to release the Mono version of this recording.The Mono sounds better and is quite different,a couple songs are even played in a different key than the stereo versions.
