Editorial Review: Product Description: "Softly he brushed my cheek, then held my face between his marble hands. ''Be very still,'' he whispered, as if I wasn''t already frozen. Slowly, never moving his eyes from mine, he leaned toward me. Then abruptly, but very gently, he rested his cold cheek against the hollow at the base of my throat. " As Shakespeare knew, love burns high when thwarted by obstacles. In Twilight, an exquisite fantasy by Stephenie Meyer, readers discover a pair of lovers who are supremely star-crossed. Bella adores beautiful Edward, and he returns her love. But Edward is having a hard time controlling the blood lust she arouses in him, because--he''s a vampire. At any moment, the intensity of their passion could drive him to kill her, and he agonizes over the danger. But, Bella would rather be dead than part from Edward, so she risks her life to stay near him, and the novel burns with the erotic tension of their dangerous and necessarily chaste relationship.Meyer has achieved quite a feat by making this scenario completely human and believable. She begins with a familiar YA premise (the new kid in school), and lulls us into thinking this will be just another realistic young adult novel. Bella has come to the small town of Forks on the gloomy Olympic Peninsula to be with her father. At school, she wonders about a group of five remarkably beautiful teens, who sit together in the cafeteria but never eat. As she grows to know, and then love, Edward, she learns their secret. They are all rescued vampires, part of a family headed by saintly Carlisle, who has inspired them to renounce human prey. For Edward''s sake they welcome Bella, but when a roving group of tracker vampires fixates on her, the family is drawn into a desperate pursuit to protect the fragile human in their midst. The precision and delicacy of Meyer''s writing lifts this wonderful novel beyond the limitations of the horror genre to a place among the best of YA fiction. (Ages 12 and up) Amazon.com Review: The book that started the phenomenon is now available in a deluxe collector's edition! Featuring a ribbon bookmark, cloth cover, ragged edges, new chapter opener designs, and a beautiful protective slipcase, this edition is perfect for fans and collectors alike. Bella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Bella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Bella, the person Edward holds most dear. Deeply romantic and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with bite. Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Don't understand why so many people love this bookI read Twilight after being told that it was "as addictive and creative as Harry Potter" Um...no. Twilight is a young adult novel that focuses on the life of a high school girl named Bella Swan. Bella is forced to move to live with her father in a rainy Seattle town called Forks. She has to deal with issues like being the new girl in school and being rather shy. She also must deal with the fact that she falls in love with a vampire named Edward Cullen. I'll admit, the premise of this ... Read More Rating: - Absoulutely FABULOUS!!!I read books for fun and this book became an obsession. It brought me into another world. I actually felt the feelings of each of the characters. After I was finished with Twilight it left me burning for more. I have never really been a person who was into the whole vampire type thing but the way this book is written I can say I am actually a fan now. Even if you don't think you can get into this book based on the fact you don't like supernatural things, think twice because I guarantee you will love ... Read More Rating: - Best saga I have ever readI could not put this book down. I read it in less than a week, then rushed out to buy New Moon and devoured it in less than a week. I would have read them in just two days if I didn't have to go to work! I love the characters and the stories are amazing. There is real depth to the characters, they are real and relatable. I am only saddened by the fact that there are only 4 book in this series. Rating: - Not an adult read!! I foolishly bought this knowing it was regarded as "young adult" reading. If you are an adult, this book will bore you to the core. There is no build up of excitement, or realistic language. And it does seem to linger in spots that don't call for it. I can see this being a good teenage read or for someone a little more sensitive to profanity, but seeing as I am not a teenager anymore and not at all sensitive to profanity, I can't fully appreciate this book for what it is. I should really give it one ... Read More Rating: - DisappointedI know they say don't judge a book by its cover, but that's actually why I decided to buy this book. I loved the contrasting colors and simple design of the cover. I bought this book on a whim, never having heard of the author or the series. I was actually pretty disappointed. I read almost any kind of book, both within the adult and young adult sections, and I almost always enjoy/like books I read. This book was just boring, and repetitive for me (the language itself is just very repetitive and ... Read More Browse for similar items by category:
